1st Quarter Accomplishments for CY 2017

In sustaining its effort to protect the people and the environment, this Group had been conducting aggressive enforcement of environmental laws such as Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998 (RA 8550), as amended by RA 10654; Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act (RA 9147); and Forestry Code of the Philippines (PD 705).

Likewise, this Group intensified the conduct of anti–criminality operations in implementing the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012 (RA 10364); Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (RA 10591); Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA 9165); Revised Penal Code; and other special laws to include the service of arrest warrants. For the period under review, a total of 235 seaborne patrol operations were conducted which resulted in the arrest of 798 persons, confiscation of more or less 1,829 kilograms of assorted fish catch with estimated market value of Php187,660.00 and filing of 49 cases in court for violation of RA 10654 and collection of LGUs administrative fines arising from these violations with the total amount of Php244,181.00. 

Likewise, this Group seized 480 pcs of assorted lumber with a total volume of more or less 18,972.47 bd ft. with an estimated value of Php748,281.20 and turned over to DENR. Further, three (3) units of chainsaw were confiscated for violation of RA 9175.

This Group also recovered and rescued nine endangered sea turtles, three dolphins, 300 pcs of sea shell and 70 heads of live pigeon which were later examined, documented and tagged by DENR- PENRO before they were safely released back to their habitat.

Moreover, confiscated for violation of TCCP (Tariff and Customs Code of the Philippines) particularly Violation of Customs and Tariff Law were more or less 30 boxes of “Maggi Kari” smuggled goods from Malaysia with an estimated market value of Php23,400.00.  Confiscated items were properly turned over to the Bureau of Customs.

In connection with the enforcement of RA 10591, this Group conducted joint operations with other law enforcement units which resulted in the arrest of 14 persons and confiscation of 19 units of Small Arms; 3 pcs of hand grenade; 2 riffle grenade99 pcs of assorted live ammunition; 12 pcs of assorted magazines and three cases were filed in court.

Drugs

In the campaign against Illegal Drugs, the Group conducted joint operations with other law enforcement units that resulted in the arrest of 43 persons, filing in court of 30 cases and confiscation of 165 pieces of heat sealed transparent plastic sachet with more or less 29.0142 grams of white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu and several drug paraphernalia with an estimated market value of Php122,992.00.

Furthermore, this Group also conducted operation for the enforcement of RA 10364 that resulted in the rescue of 48 victims of Human Trafficking. Case arising thereto was referred to the Department of Social Welfare and Development. As to the intensified campaign against wanted persons, 32 were arrested. On the other hand, this Group arrested 45 persons and filed eight cases in court for violation of the Revised Penal Code (RPC) and other special laws.
