A 32-year-old man was arrested by personnel of PNP Maritime Group for illegal trading of “bearded dragon” wild animals through online platform in Pampanga City on August 16, 2022.                         

The personnel of Bataan Maritime Police Station conducted an entrapment operation and successfully apprehended John Carlo N. Geollege, a resident of 840 Chico St. Sto., Niño, Plaridel, Bulacan for selling wildlife species through online buy and sell Group named “PHILIPPINE EXOTIC HOBBIES” using his Facebook account “Dem Val”.              

Prior to the conduct of an entrapment operation, the Bataan MARPSTA cyber patrol team deal with the suspect and agreed to sell the “bearded dragon” for PhP9,500.00.                                  

Upon confirmation of the suspect in the transaction with the poseur buyer, the Regional Maritime Unit 3 formed a team from Bataan MARPSTA and immediately went to the agreed meeting place which was in front of 7-Eleven Store in Brgy. Dolores, City of San Fernando, Pampanga. The suspect was arrested when the “bearded dragon” was given to the poseur buyer.                   

The arrested suspect will face charges under RA 9147 (Wildlife Conservation and Protection Act), Chapter IV, Section 27 in relation to RA 10175 (Cyber Crime).       

The rescued wildlife will be turned over to the DENR-PENRO Pampanga and the suspect has been brought to Bataan MARPSTA for documentation and proper disposition.
